Arcadia/Bienville Parish Chamber of Commerce Newsletter

June 2005

The President’s Message

Last month, the chamber helped Arcadia celebrate her 150th birthday. Jackie Cook and the Sesquicentennial Committee worked hard and did a great job bringing the festival together. Best wishes, Arcadia, on your next l5O years!

If you missed the Authentic Bonnie & Clyde Festival in Gibsland last month, you missed a really great festival. The weather cooperated wonderfully and lots o folks showed up to participate in the parade and watch the re-enactment of the Bonnie & Clyde shootout. Even though they lived as outlaws, their death has had the positive impact of making this parish famous and tourists from all over the nation are drawn to our locality to see where the notorious two met their death.

The chamber is working hard to prepare for the July 4th Fireworks Show. This year the chamber board has voted to seek sponsorship from our members for the event. This is being done to allow the community to attend the show free of charge. If you would like to contribute to the event, get In touch with Tom Martin or Sharon Shrell at the Gibsland Bank. If you have a talent and would like to perform at the show, please call Deanna Curtis so she can get you on the program.

This month, After Hours will be hosted by Arcadia Health Care on June 13th. We look forward to seeing you there.
