Arcadia/Bienville Parish Chamber of Commerce Newsletter

May 2005

The President’s Message

The Arcadia-Bienville Parish Chamber of Commerce celebrated an important birthday during our annual banquet last month. We are now one year old. While we were celebrating our first, we also helped Arcadia celebrate her 150th. That’s sesquicentennial for those of you who can pronounce it without a stammer. The banquet was a great success with over 350 in attendance.

The board had its first regular meeting on Monday, April 18th. During our meeting we identified the projects we have ongoing and assigned board members to them. In addition to the projects that the chamber has traditionally sponsored such as After Hours, the 4th of July Picnic, and our annual banquet, the board is going to be working on business development and assistance. Representatives from our board will be meeting with other chamber representatives to see what programs are available to support the businesses in our parish. We hope to develop programs that will offer direct support as well as sponsoring seminars and sessions covering topics directly relating to our local business needs.

Susan Moore is working hard to get our new web site up and running. The project is funded by a grant to Louisiana Tech and the university is providing all technical assistance to us. When completed, the public will be able to see what we have to offer here in Bienville Parish.

Does your business have a web site? If so, please let us know the address. It would also be helpful to us if we had an e-mail address for every member who has one. If you have an e-mail address, please let us know by sending notice to our office at arcadiachamber@bellsouth.net.

Thank you all for supporting the Chamber. We are excited about this year and hope to continue to grow in our service to this community. Be sure and check your Chamber Calendar for upcoming events.
