HISTORIC DOWNTOWN

With many buildings dating back to the turn of the 20th century, they are filled today with antique stores and great restaurants.

Travel two blocks west on North Railroad Avenue and you're at the old post office built in 1937 and still in use today.  It's open seven days a week and features a mural "Cotton Time".  For "New Deal" enthusiasts this was painted by an artist under the New Deal's Works Project Administration (WPA).  The WPA put thousands of unemployed people to work in the 1930's and 1940's, including artists and writers.
